4 Things to Know About Working in Retail
4 Things to Know About Working in Retail Image via: www.pixabay.com However, do not go into the job being naïve. Working customer service jobs of any kind have their drawbacks. Customers can sometimes be impatient or rude but do not let this discourage you. The purpose of your job is to help people fulfill a need of some kind, whether they need clothes, food, or any other kind of product. You are there to help. If you keep this in mind, none of the scowls or the rudeness that you will encounter will bother you and you will enjoy your time working a retail job. Youâll find new friends Do you remember that age old phrase âThere is no âIâ in team? Without a doubt, it holds a lot of truth, especially when it comes to working in customer service. As much of a superhero as you might be, you would not make it far working in retail without some sidekicks. Your coworkers will become your family after you have been working for a while. You will have survived all types of disasters together, and the shared chaos will bring you all closer together. Think about it: you will be spending at least 15 hours per week with these folks, so eventually, you will grow close. When the holiday rush has all of you gasping for air, your coworkers will be there to lift your spirits and your energy. When there is a crazy customer that just took everything crummy about their day out on you, your coworkers will be there to support you. When the day is going by slowly and you need something to make the time go by faster, your coworkers will be there to make you smile. Trust me when I say that having an epic team of coworkers will make working in retail so much better. Youâll get epic discounts What is perhaps the absolute best part about working in retail? You guessed it! The discounts! While you are watching all of these customers purchase all of the things you want for yourself, you can keep in mind that you will be able to get the same items for a lower cost. Sounds pretty sweet, right? You can give in to temptation with discounts of anywhere between 30 percent and 60 percent off depending on where you work. Want a job at Charlotte Russe? Pick up some affordable heels while you are at it. Want to work at a grocery store? Enjoy some discounted groceries. Just do not let the power go to your head! After all, you do not want to end up spending every paycheck on things you might not necessarily need. Do not let your inner âshopaholicâ get the best of you. Image via: www.pixabay.com Youâll have a flexible schedule This is probably the most important aspect of any college studentâs part-time job: the scheduling. Many places of work will be awfully stingy about their hours. I used to work at a part-time job that required 16 hours per week minimum. While that does not seem too bad, it certainly has its drawbacks when it comes time for finals week. With that being said, retail managers are typically very understanding when it comes to college students and their schedules, so if you need to take on fewer hours for one week, you should be able to without a problem! Keep in mind, your supervisors will most likely need more help during the holiday season, so be sure to keep in contact with them and keep them updated on your schedule needs. You are more likely to get what you need when you are upfront right away.

Common Core and School English Language Arts
Common Core and School English Language Arts Common Core and School English Language Arts The goal of the Common Core State Standards is to ensure that students will be college- and career-ready in their skills and knowledge by the end of high school. A secondary purpose is to have consistent criteria of grade-level expectations in English language arts and mathematics across states. The shared learning goals do not constitute a national curriculum. They are a list of the skills students need to know by the end of specific grade levels from K-12. The standards do not explain how content should be taught nor do they recommend what materials to use. Each state and/or school district decides what school curriculum and sequence of skills to develop in order to comply with the state standards. Because schools use different curriculums, how concepts are taught may vary widely in neighboring school districts. The Common Core standards for English language arts (ELA) are grouped into four categories: Reading, Language, Writing, and Speaking and Listening. The school standards are designed for students to fully understand what they read and hear, and for students to effectively speak and write about their understanding. The standards in Language and Reading are more foundational. The standards for Writing and Speaking and Listening involve the application of knowledge and skills. Several standards can often be addressed through one content-rich activity. The standards for ELA emphasize that students encounter complex texts at each grade level in order to develop the language skills and conceptual knowledge they need for success in school and life. With guidance from the teacher, students read closely complex texts and build knowledge through content-rich nonfiction. Students build literacy skills and knowledge in multiple disciplines, and must read, write, and speak using evidence grounded in literary and informational texts. Volunteer For Reading Tutoring in the Home
Volunteer For Reading Tutoring in the HomeOne of the great benefits of volunteer work is the opportunity to go back to school while you are still in the child care position. While some individuals are reluctant to go back to school, there are many advantages to doing so. For one, it is not necessary to do all your volunteer work while still working and learning at the same time.Reading tutoring in the home for children can be an excellent way to develop skills in reading and language. While the child is only in the home, the parent is constantly focused on their child and enjoying their life. As a result, when the child is involved in home reading tutoring, the parent is also focusing on learning to read and speaking English.Reading tutoring is not limited to the home. Depending on the requirements of the organization, it can also take place in schools, libraries, special needs centers and other public areas of a community. This is great because it does not matter if the individual v olunteering is single or has children.Adult volunteers can also learn to read the language while they are doing their homework, doing study time and when they are attending church services. They can also participate in volunteer activities that are geared toward people learning to read. This helps those who are learning to be able to read and speak to interact with others while they are getting some one-on-one time.Reading tutoring in the home is an excellent way to advance one's education and to better understand the importance of language and the role of reading in the lives of others. It will teach the caregiver how to interact with and connect with children. It will help the child to learn to talk to others and it will allow the caregiver to understand the value of reading. While at the same time, the love for the children is also being developed through reading. While going back to school for volunteer work can take some time away from one's individual education, the benefits o f volunteering are many. Most importantly, it will benefit a person's abilities to participate in the volunteer work for several years. For those who enjoy reading and writing, it can provide them with an interest in literature that they might not have otherwise.Although going back to school can take a large amount of time away from one's education, the positive results of volunteering can be measured in years. Furthermore, it can improve a person's ability to see the world from a different perspective.
Coefficient Chemistry Definition
Coefficient Chemistry DefinitionIn the definition of the science of chemical reaction and laboratory research, an important term is coefficient chemistry. In this particular definition, the term 'coefficient' means 'amount,' as in the unit of measure 'weight.' It does not mean an amount in terms of a single element; rather, it means an amount that is distributed over several elements. In terms of this definition, it would be like the amount of an element in two different quantities - weight is measured by the quantity of that element in one or more of the other elements, and the concentration, which is the substance's effect on the elements, is measured by the quantity of that element in the elements directly. The term also refers to the classification of organic chemistry, which deals with a family of studies that compare chemical properties and chemistry of specific organic compounds. In this concept, the variable of interest is the mass (mass is the measurement of that which is mea sured with) of the compound, called the concentration, which is important for chemical reactions involving this substance. In the particular case of the study of organic chemistry, the variable of interest is the mass of a compound (the volume, or weight) of the substance. In the concept of organic chemistry, it is important to understand that the names of elements have already been taken by the scientists who have worked on this subject for centuries, and so the names of elements are descriptive of the substance's properties, as opposed to labels that provide information about the item's quantity. For example, in the name of carbon the name simply refers to the mass of the substance (about 0.1%), since the chemical formula for carbon is 'H2CO3,' that is, the 'inorganic' form of carbon (there are, however, others). The equation, expressed in the general chemistry terms of the formulae, can be used to estimate the mass of carbon, given the other elements. For example, the substance hyd rogen is expressed as the sum of the component masses of hydrogen (those of the individual atoms), known as atoms, and the mass of a particular carbon, known as the atom, which is the highest mass. The rule that is used to determine the density of the water is the same rule that is used in molecular chemistry to determine the density of any chemical compound. The formula is: The substance H 2 O is expressed as the sum of the atom H and the atom O, the mass of the substance, and the mass of water, which is the mass of the compound. The actual value of the product is the amount of atom A and atom O in the substance, multiplied by the mass of water, which is, of course, the mass of the compound. All of these formulas are based on the specific properties of each of the two elements, H and O, of which the compound is composed. It should be understood that the properties of these formulas are important in chemical reactions and laboratory research, but that the significance of the equations themselves is less important. That is why many physicists have begun to use statistical analysis of data to help determine the specific elements that make up all of the different substances that we consider when we discuss the world of chemistry.
What is Standard Form
What is Standard Form Standard form in Algebra is the most accepted form of a particular formula or concept. In math, standard forms can be seen in most of the topics because it gives a particular format to follow while we are performing calculations on numbers. For instance, standard form of a number 450 in general is 450, but we can also rewrite this number in another form popularly known as scientific notation as, 4.50 * 102. Hence a standard form is considered to be the format, mostly preferred in common. Example 1: Write the given equation, y = 5 2x in the standard form. Given linear equation: y = 5 2x The standard form of a linear equation is: Ax + By = C, where A, B, and C are integers and A, B are not equal to 0. Writing the given equation in standard form, we get y = 5 2x == Add 2x on both sides. This gives: y + 2x = 5 also written as 2x + y = 5. Therefore the standard (or the general) form is 2x + y = 5. Example 2: Write the given equation x(x 3) = 4 in the standard form. Given equation: x(x 3) = 4 The standard form of a quadratic equation is: ax2 + bx + c = 0, where a, b, c are integers and a is not equal to 0. Writing the given equation in standard form, we get x (x 3) = 4 == x2 3x = 4 Subtracting 4 on both sides gives: x2 3x 4 = 0 Therefore the standard (or the general) form is x2 3x 4 = 0.
How to Show Off Your Accomplishments (Without Sounding Like Youre Bragging) - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / How to Show Off Your Accomplishments (Without Sounding Like Youâre Bragging) - Introvert Whisperer How to Show Off Your Accomplishments (Without Sounding Like Youâre Bragging) Career Attraction August 18, 2014 Communication, Personal Branding, Self-Promotion No responses This article first appeared in Apploi Observer on November 14, 2013. If you canât tell a potential new employer what makes you different (read: better) than the other 118 candidates, how will they ever know? This is actually harder than it sounds. When I first started working, I landed a huge deal. I was at a solar energy installer in Kathmandu back in 2004, and the market was hot. In fact, I remember the customers paid in cash. I couldnât keep all the bundles of paper money in the small bag I had taken with me to the appointment, so it was spilling out all over the place. When I dumped the pile of cash on the controllerâs desk, he kind of stared at it, grabbed a few fistfuls of cash, and handed it to me, saying, âHereâs your commission.â That was the last I ever spoke of it. Until one day when my boss called me into his office. I thought I was in trouble, but to my surprise, he looked at me and said, âYouâre really good at this! Nice work.â âThanks!â I said, beaming a bit too early. âSo, why havenât you told anyone else in the office?â he said. âHow are they ever going to know you? How are you ever going to get ahead if you keep hiding under your desk? Youâve got to figure out how to ring your own bell to get ahead in this world.â A hard lesson to learn. And when I see people do this well, I admire them. Why Is It Hard to Talk About Yourself? Weâre trained from an early age not to brag. Should we do so, either our parents will scold us or weâll alienate our peer group? So we retreat in the other direction: false humility. When you receive a compliment, do you simply say, âthank youâ? Or do you go out of your way to discredit what nice things that person has said about you? The problem is that if you canât talk about yourself and your accomplishments, your future employer will have no idea! Youâre making their job harder by not sharing this information. How to Strike the Right Balance Between Facts and Bragging I can sit in front of you and tell you Iâve written a bestselling book without bragging. Iâm simply stating a fact: Job Searching with Social Media For Dummies sold over 10,000 copies, thus making it into the bestselling category. Then I will you that selling so many copies was a lot of hard work. Writing the book was a long, intense process that took over my entire life. I wasnât born into it, I earned it. Still not bragging. But if I said, âIâm a bestselling author, whose book sold over 10,000 copies easily.â That could be bragging. Hereâs why: First, Itâs Not About Who You Are; Itâs About What You Did When you talk about your accomplishments, learn to distinguish between something inherent to you (like intelligence, luck or good looks) and something you did (like hard work, perseverance and innovation). Thereâs a big difference between âIâm a bestselling authorâ and âIâve written a book thatâs bestselling.â Second, Show Your Struggle and Be Human Bragging has a sense of, âIâm better than you. Things you think are hard are easy for me.â You can quickly eliminate that pretense by sharing your struggle. It wasnât my brilliant writing and perfect timing that sold 10,000 copies (although Iâd like to believe that). It was lots of outreach, phone calls, Let me emphasize that Self-Promotion doesnât have to be obnoxious to be effective. But, if you donât Self-Promote you, who will? If you ever want to get ahead, you have to learn how to Self-Promote. I want to help you accelerate your career by connecting you with your Free Instant Access to my video that shows you simple, yet effective ways to Self-Promote. Start watching now by clicking here!
